The people of the North Slope have been sourcing nutrient-rich local food for millennia. Dietary Services follows in this proud tradition, recognizing the central role that healthy food plays in a patient’s overall health.

The Dietary Services Department for Samuel Simmonds Memorial Hospital is made up of a great team of people who all have one thing in mind: the quality and care of our patients. Our number one goal is to provide our patients with the freshest and healthiest meals we can in a timely manner. We offer a variety of diets to fit the therapeutic needs of our patients. We pride ourselves in making tasty and appealing, yet healthy meals.

BOWHEAD CAFE’ AND MIDNIGHT SUN COFFEE SHOP

Also included in the Dietary Services Department is the Bowhead Cafe’ and the Midnight Sun Coffee Shop. The Bowhead Cafe’ is a nice, convenient place to come sit down, eat good food, and have a hot cup of coffee. We have a large variety of fresh, healthy choices to eat in or take out.

Our Midnight Sun Coffee Shop is located in the main waiting area of the hospital and is open to the public. We proudly serve Kaladi Bros. Coffee and have a large variety of snacks, food, and drinks available.

Our Midnight Sun Coffee Shop hours are from 7:00am – 5:00pm, Monday – Friday.
